About the Role

Tasks Mobile Mapping Leadership Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of road condition and infrastructure mobile mapping surveys using the latest survey technologies. Manage the complete mobile mapping workflow from data acquisition through to final deliverables. Develop, refine, and implement efficient survey methodologies that maximise quality, accuracy, productivity, and safety. Establish and maintain Standard Methods and Procedures (SM&Ps) aligned with industry best practice, project requirements, and client expectations. Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve survey capabilities and project efficiencies. Data Processing & Analysis Process, validate, and analyse large-scale mobile mapping datasets using industry-leading software platforms. Extract and manage geospatial information to support engineering, design, construction, and asset management activities. Deliver accurate and reliable survey outputs including; topographical surveys, road condition assessments, asset inventories, digital terrain models, point cloud datasets, 2D drawings and 3D models. Ensure all deliverables meet project quality standards and contractual requirements. Survey Delivery Carry out conventional survey activities when required, supporting wider project survey operations. Utilise GNSS, robotic total stations, laser scanning equipment, UAVs, and other geospatial technologies to collect accurate survey data. Maintain survey control networks and ensure compliance with project survey control standards. Undertake quality assurance checks to verify accuracy and consistency of all survey outputs. Stakeholder Management Present survey results and technical findings to clients, project teams, and senior stakeholders. Produce clear and concise technical reports documenting methodologies, findings, and recommendations. Support the preparation of technical proposals and commercial quotations for survey services. Work collaboratively with engineers, BIM teams, construction managers, and client representatives to ensure project requirements are achieved. Innovation & Continuous Improvement Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the survey function. Mentor and support junior surveyors and wider project teams in mobile mapping technologies and best practice. Drive the adoption of modern geospatial techniques and workflows across STRABAG UK projects. Support the strategic development and future rollout of mobile mapping capabilities throughout the business. Flexibility Travel to and support other STRABAG UK projects as required. Occasionally work outside standard hours to accommodate operational survey requirements and project programmes. Qualifications Degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related geospatial field. Professional Member (MRICS) or Fellow (FCICES) status is highly desirable. Valid CSCS card (Manage level preferred) and a full UK Driving Licence. Proven experience leading and delivering mobile mapping surveys on major infrastructure, highways, or construction projects. Demonstrable experience developing mobile mapping workflows and operational procedures. Strong knowledge of mobile mapping processing software, such as Trimble Business Centre (TBC), Leica software solutions, RIEGL software suites. Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and survey data processing software. Expertise in the use of modern geospatial equipment, including GNSS systems, Robotic Total Stations, Laser Scanners, Mobile Mapping Systems, UAV platforms. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with an ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced project environment.
