About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and customer-focused Service Engineer-Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) to join our Services team in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will be an energetic and enthusiastic professional with strong technical expertise in Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) systems, particularly Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), and the ability to independently manage customer interactions and site operations.
This role requires extensive field experience in installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, retrofit, and testing activities across a wide range of Schneider Electric MV and LV products.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise
Act as an L2 Technical Expert within the Schneider Electric product community.
Serve as an MV/LV specialist with strong protection system knowledge and GIS expertise.
Perform installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, erection, and maintenance of Schneider Electric MV products and equipment.
Execute installation and commissioning activities for GIS solutions including:
GHA
WS
GMA
Support MV switchgear platforms including:
MCset
PIX
RMU
Flusarc
Support LV switchboards, panels, and protection systems.
Maintenance & Retrofit Activities
Perform LV troubleshooting, retrofits, mechanical modifications, and busbar alterations.
Conduct maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of installed equipment.
Support spare parts, retrofit solutions, extension panel projects, and contract execution activities.
Protection & Control Systems
Program, test, and troubleshoot protection relays, including:
SEPAM
MiCOM
VIP
Knowledge of protection relays from other manufacturers will be considered an asset.
Test and commission MV/LV protection systems and associated equipment.
Customer Management
Interface directly with customers to clarify technical requirements and resolve complex technical issues.
Lead site investigations and root-cause analysis activities.
Prepare detailed technical reports, service documentation, and customer recommendations.
Deliver product training and operational guidance to customers on Schneider Electric MV/LV equipment.
Workshop & Inventory Support
Support workshop operations and ensure testing equipment and material stocks are maintained in good working condition.
Assist planners and project teams in the successful execution of maintenance, retrofit, and extension projects
Key Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in:
GIS installation and commissioning
Mechanical retrofit activities
Busbar modification and bending
Testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of MV and LV equipment
Strong communication, customer-facing, and stakeholder management skills.
Flexible to work on customer sites, including extended hours when required.
Willingness and medical fitness to work in both onshore and offshore environments.
Strong digital proficiency and commitment to achieving Schneider Electric KPIs and service excellence standards.
Arabic language skills are an advantage.

Certification on Schneider Electric LV switchgear platforms such as:

Blokset
Strong knowledge of:
Masterpact NT/NW circuit breakers
Compact circuit breakers
Micrologic trip units
Proven understanding of MV/LV system operation, commissioning, and maintenance best practices.
