Software Engineer (GIS Specialist)

At Datanest, we build smart spatial and environmental software solutions for engineers and environmental scientists. We are looking for a Software Engineer with strong GIS domain expertise to join our product development team. Role Overview: You will design and develop spatial data processing pipelines, web mapping interfaces, and integrations between CAD/GIS data models and cloud services. Key Responsibilities: Build modern web map interfaces using React, Mapbox GL JS / OpenLayers; Develop backend geospatial services and APIs in Python (FastAPI / GeoDjango); Optimize spatial database queries (PostGIS); Integrate GIS data formats (Shapefile, GeoJSON, Geopackage, IFC) into cloud platform workflows. Requirements: Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Geomatics, or GIS; 3+ years software development experience with focus on geospatial software; Proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript; Hands-on experience with PostGIS, GDAL, Mapbox/OpenLayers; Strong understanding of spatial reference systems, projections, and topology.
