These systems have been fundamental in supporting the Openreach rollout of full fibre to the UK. The role also involves futureproofing these critical systems to ensure they remain available, operational and well supported into the future. What You’ll Be Doing As a hands-on GIS Developer with strong ESRI expertise, with telecom domain experience, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining geospatial applications and network inventory solutions. The role will focus on ESRI platform implementation and customization, data modelling, integrations, and spatial analytics supporting telecom network use cases. GIS Application Development Design and develop GIS applications using ESRI technologies: ArcGIS Enterprise / ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Pro Build custom solutions using: ArcGIS SDKs, ArcPy, Python, JavaScript APIs (for web GIS apps) Configure and extend ESRI-based network models (UNM /TDN) Integration & Data Management Integrate GIS systems with: OSS/BSS systems, Network inventory platforms, External APIs and enterprise systems Work with spatial databases: PostgreSQL / PostGIS Handle data migration, transformation, and validation of large-scale spatial datasets Telecom Domain Alignment Implement GIS solutions aligned to telecom use cases like copper and Fibre network modelling (Equipments, ducts, cables, joints) Support modelling of: Connectivity, topology, and asset relationships Collaborate with business SMEs and architects on network data models Platform Configuration & Performance Configure ArcGIS services, layers, and portals Optimize performance for large-scale GIS datasets Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency Delivery & Support Participate in Agile delivery Support testing, deployment, and production issues Essential Skills / Experience ESRI / GIS Expertise Strong hands-on experience in: ArcGIS Enterprise / ArcGIS Pro, ESRI UNM, TDN / data models Development experience with: ArcPy / Python, ArcGIS JavaScript API Technical Skills Experience with: PostgreSQL / PostGIS API development & integrations Data migration and ETL processes Understanding of: Geospatial data formats and standards Experience: Essential: 5–10+ years in GIS development Proven hands-on ESRI implementation experience Strong problem-solving in spatial and network modelling Ability to bridge business (telecom) and technical GIS solutions Detail-oriented in data quality and modelling Collaborative with cross-functional teams Desirable Skills / Experience Desirable: Experience with: PostgreSQL / PostGIS API development & integrations Data migration and ETL processes Understanding of: Geospatial data formats and standards BT is the UK’s leading communications group and the holding company behind some of the country’s most recognised brands – including BT, EE, Openreach and Plusnet.
