About the Role

JOB SUMMARY The Survey Modeling team members will convert raw land survey data and engineering notes into accurate 3D digital terrain models, surface maps, and construction staking files using specialized software like AutoCAD Civil 3D or Trimble Business Center. This is an individual contributor role with minimal direct reports. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Process Data: Import raw point files, GPS data, and drone/LiDAR point clouds from field crews. Build Models: Create 3D digital terrain models (DTMs), surface contours, and cross-sections for engineering and construction. Collaborate: Work closely with project managers, field surveyors, and civil engineers to verify site constraints and resolve discrepancies. Quality Control: Check models for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications. Prepare Deliverables: Generate staking point files, boundary plats, and topographic maps. Management: Lead and many any direct reports; If no direct reports, will manage the department, communication to/from, set expectations with field teams, then provide SME guidance for the same. QUALIFICATIONS Strong experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Software, or Trimble Business Center. Understanding of land surveying principles, coordinate systems, and contour mapping. Ability to interpret complex civil engineering plans, blueprints, and legal boundary descriptions. Associate degree or certificate in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or CAD Drafting (preferred) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to work in jobsite environments Ability to travel to jobsites and regional locations as needed Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds Ability to sit or stand at a desk for 8 to 10 hours per day. High dexterity for continuous mouse, keyboard, and dual-monitor use. Sharp vision to read blueprints, analyze pixel-heavy point clouds, and identify small screen details.
