Technical Analyst (Agriculture and Remote Sensing) — contractual, on-site in New Delhi. Gross salary ₹1,20,000 per month.
Role description & key responsibilities:
Process and analyse satellite imagery and geospatial datasets
Generate assessments for crop area, condition, and yield
Daily tasks: image pre-processing, classification, change detection
Integrate remote sensing outputs with meteorological, soil, and field data
Prepare maps, statistical summaries, and technical reports for crop forecasting programs
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to methodology improvements
Assist in validation using field data and stakeholder feedback
Present findings to internal and external partners
Academic qualification:
Postgraduate degree in Agriculture (preferably Agricultural Physics, Agrometeorology, Agronomy, Crop Physiology), Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, Environmental Science, or a related field. Specialized training in geospatial technologies preferred.
Technical skills:
Strong foundation in remote sensing, GIS, satellite image processing, and spatial analysis. Proficiency in ERDAS Imagine, ENVI, QGIS, or ArcGIS. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. Google Earth Engine) and machine learning/statistics is an advantage. Applied skills handling large datasets and basic scripting (Python, R, MATLAB). Clear maps, visualizations, and technical documentation. Strong analytical and documentation skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred experience: Prior experience in crop forecasting, drought monitoring, or large-area geospatial projects within an institutional or research setting.
