The Office for Forests and Natural Hazards (AWN) is the cantonal center of expertise for forest management and natural hazard prevention. AWN staff advocate for societal needs related to forests and ensure sustainable forest use.

We Are Looking For
A technical specialist for forestry (GIS) data (70–100%), effective immediately or by agreement.

Your Responsibilities
As the GIS lead for the area Forest Condition and Development, you are responsible for maintaining, harmonizing, and further developing our geospatial data.
In collaboration with subject-matter experts, you calculate forestry indicators and organize their storage and accessibility.
You automate periodic calculations and modeling tasks.
Depending on your qualifications, you support the department in analyzing, interpreting, and utilizing digital data and indicators. You actively contribute to interdisciplinary GIS projects.
What We Expect
University or Fachhochschule (university of applied sciences) degree in geoinformatics, computer science, data science, geography, forestry, or a related field.
Applicants with relevant professional experience and further training in GIS/IT, as well as recent graduates, are very welcome.
High willingness to learn and enthusiasm for methodically analyzing complex problems, developing pragmatic solutions, and quickly implementing innovations in practice.
Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, R, and Python is advantageous.
Initiative, reliability, and a solution-oriented approach to work.
Proficiency in multiple cantonal languages is an advantage.
