Magellium, part of the Artal Group (300 employees), is an independent key player specializing in Information Systems and Digital Geography, supporting clients’ IT departments. Magellium delivers a 360° service offering covering research, consulting, business analysis, development, and technical maintenance.
You will join the Magellium Paris team, responsible for defining, designing, implementing, deploying, and maintaining information systems and GIS solutions for enterprises, local authorities, and government agencies.
Your Mission
As part of our growth in geomatics and geographic information systems, we are looking for a Web GIS Project Manager to join our Paris team.
You will lead web development projects with a GIS component for major clients across sectors such as energy, transport, defense, and space—including a strategic project for a key player in the energy transition. You will work alongside engineers specializing in web GIS development and geomatics.
At the interface between the client, technical teams, and stakeholders, you will ensure contractual commitments are met in terms of cost, quality, schedule, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Project scoping: Define project scope and analyze client needs and strategic objectives
Solution design: Translate business requirements into functional and technical solutions, in collaboration with engineering teams
Project management (fixed-price projects): Plan and manage timelines, resources, milestones, and deliverables
Team coordination: Lead cross-functional project teams, especially web GIS developers and geomaticians
Monitoring & control: Track progress, identify risks/alerts/deviations, and implement corrective actions
Quality assurance: Ensure deliverables meet functional and technical requirements
Reporting: Provide regular project updates to clients and internal management
Performance tracking: Monitor project KPIs and performance metrics
Financial oversight: Manage budget, actuals, invoicing, and profitability
Deployment phases: Participate in design, testing, and production rollout
Client relationship: Serve as the primary client contact and build long-term trust
Continuous improvement: Contribute to refining project management methodologies and practices
You will operate in an environment where software development, web mapping, geospatial data, and information systems are closely integrated.
Your Environment
You will collaborate closely with engineering teams working on:
Web development and cartographic applications
GIS and geomatics
GeoServer / MapStore / GeoNode / GeoOrchestra
PostgreSQL / PostGIS
Python / JavaScript
Geospatial services and standards (OGC)
Open-source technologies
Familiarity with this ecosystem will help you quickly grasp technical challenges and communicate effectively with engineering teams.
Profile Sought
Education: Master’s level (Bac+5) in computer science, engineering, geomatics, or equivalent
Experience: Proven track record in managing software or web development projects, ideally within an IT services company (ESN), engineering consultancy, or tech services firm
Project context: Comfortable with fixed-price project environments, managing cost, quality, and schedule commitments, and leading technical teams
GIS experience: Prior experience developing web GIS/geomatics solutions is a strong asset
Methodologies: Proficient in major project management approaches (Waterfall/V-model, Agile) and able to adapt your management style to project and client needs
Technical knowledge: Familiarity with GIS/geomatics technologies such as GeoServer, PostGIS, QGIS, ArcGIS, FME, MapStore, or equivalents is valued
