About the Role
YOUR FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES
Even 80 years after the end of World War II, the Bezirksregierung Düsseldorf continues to address the legacy of the war, particularly unexploded ordnance (UXO). The position you are applying for is part of our preventive UXO clearance unit.
Prior to ground-disturbing construction activities, land parcels must be analyzed for potential UXO presence. In addition to geospatial data, approximately 300,000 aerial photographs from the WWII era are available for analysis.
In the so-called aerial image interpretation phase, these images must be analyzed, a risk assessment conducted, potential hazard sources documented in GIS, and, if necessary, recommendations for further UXO clearance measures provided. Key responsibilities include:
Multitemporal, stereoscopic interpretation of WWII-era aerial images to identify UXO suspect areas
Aerial image orientation and georeferencing
Risk assessment and recommendation of further actions
Documentation of results in the ArcGIS geoinformation system
