We are looking

for a
GIS Data and AI Engineer (m/f/d)
at the location
Leipzig,
Berlin,
Magdeburg, or Neubrandenburg.

Tasks
Development, implementation, and optimization of ETL pipelines and data warehouses for large geospatial datasets (e.g., LiDAR, panoramic and orthophotos, 3D models, etc.).
Ensuring data quality, consistency, and georeferencing across diverse data sources.
Designing and maintaining an efficient geodatabase infrastructure (e.g., PostGIS).
Conceptualizing and training machine learning models (e.g., for object detection, classification, segmentation) on relevant Deutsche InfraSoft geospatial data.
Integrating developed AI models into existing or new GIS applications and workflows at Deutsche InfraSoft (Mobile Mapping for rail and road).
Selecting and applying appropriate tools and programming languages, as well as researching and evaluating new technologies in geospatial data, cloud computing, and AI—including existing open-source solutions.
Documenting processes, models, and technical architecture.
Close collaboration with surveying teams, GIS analysts, and project managers to identify automation opportunities.
Providing technical support and training to internal stakeholders on the use of developed data solutions.
Contributing to the programming, development, and maintenance of in-house software tools.
Profile
Education/Experience:
Completed vocational training or university degree in computer science, geophysics, geoinformatics, business information technology, or a related technical field.
Professional experience in software and web application development; experience or overlap in geoinformatics, GIS applications, and processing of point clouds from mobile mapping campaigns is desirable.
Technical Skills:
Strong programming skills in Python; familiarity with other relevant languages is a plus.
Knowledge of database design and programming.
Enthusiasm for and practical experience with modern surveying technologies, as well as GIS systems and applications.
Personal Qualities:
Analytical thinking.
Structured, independent work style combined with strong teamwork skills.
Class B driver’s license is advantageous.
German (at least C2 level) and English are beneficial.
