About the Role
Job Description
Within the Digital and IT Directorate, you will be responsible for acquiring and modeling geographic information for the community territory, developing and administering GIS tools and geographic data exchange systems, and disseminating these data across departments and to partner organizations. You will also process data and produce maps from the GIS to support studies conducted by the Community and shared services.
Key Responsibilities / Working Conditions
Structure and administer the Geographic Information System (software, networks, data architecture).
Structure and manage GIS databases and cartographic reference datasets in coordination with geographic data providers and end users.
Proactively propose improvements to the GIS in coordination with the data team.
Collaborate closely with the Data Project Manager.
Develop custom processing workflows using FME (or Python if FME is not suitable).
Create dashboards using Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
Administer geographic data exchange platforms with municipalities and various partners (e.g., open data, data cataloging).
Produce maps and perform GIS data processing tailored to the Community’s study requirements (in collaboration with project teams).
Coordinate the GIS network and manage user support, including training and internal/external user assistance (e.g., tutorials, service-specific adaptations).
Conduct technical watch in the field of geographic information and ensure the continuous improvement of the GIS tool and enrichment of databases.
Lead internal and external GIS-related meetings and foster cross-sectoral exchanges with local stakeholders.
Desired Profile
Expertise in project management methodologies.
Proficiency with Business Geo and QGIS GIS platforms.
Strong skills in FME ETL tools.
Competence in PostgreSQL/PostGIS databases and SQL.
Knowledge of Python programming.
Familiarity with GIS-related reporting tools.
Understanding of public procurement rules.
Detail-oriented, methodical, and autonomous.
Initiative-taking and proactive mindset.
Pedagogical approach, interest in innovation, and enthusiasm for new GIS technologies.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
