GIS Specialist for Tunnel Inventory

About the Role Are you interested in working at the intersection of GIS, inventory, and the physical environment? In this role, you’ll contribute vital data to inform strategic decisions on how pedestrian and bicycle tunnels can be developed with a focus on safety, security, and attractiveness. You’ll work within a municipal setting, where your inventory work becomes a central part of assessing strategic reinvestment needs. The assignment combines fieldwork, structured documentation, and geodata management—ideal for someone who thrives when their work leads to clear, tangible improvements in the public realm. Key Responsibilities Conduct inventories of pedestrian and bicycle tunnels, focusing on safety, security, and attractiveness. Follow a predefined checklist to collect structured data for further analysis. Document tunnels and their immediate surroundings through photography. Compile and quality-assure information in GIS, including associated metadata. Manage and deliver vector data in Geopackage or Shapefile format. Handle raster data (e.g., ECW or TIFF) as needed. Prepare a short report and method description in PDF format. Ensure geospatial data is delivered in the coordinate systems Sweref99 18 00 (planimetric) and RH2000 (altitude). Requirements Demonstrated competence in GIS. Competence in landscape architecture, environmental psychology, and inventory practices. Solid knowledge of the field and prior experience with similar assignments. Ability to work systematically with documentation, metadata, and photographic material. Proficiency in handling geospatial data in Geopackage or Shapefile formats. Familiarity with Sweref99 18 00 and RH2000 coordinate systems.
