About the Role
About the Company
At Avaron, you gain the security of a permanent employment combined with the variety of working on-site at different clients. We supply specialists across fields including technology, IT, industry, project management, and business support—regardless of assignment, you’ll have a consultant manager dedicated to your development and support.
About the Role
You will step into a project where GIS becomes a strategic tool for future regional planning and integration of biodiversity considerations. The role focuses on producing a cross-municipal analysis of nature value and species protection potential in natural areas, with the aim of identifying and prioritizing locations where special consideration may be needed in future land use, planning, and development.
The work is based on existing open data and prior investigations—no field surveys are involved. You will have significant autonomy to propose methodology and analysis models, while driving a project whose outcome will be a concrete, actionable planning resource. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to combine GIS, ecology, and urban planning in a role with clear impact.
Key Responsibilities
Propose methodology and analysis models to identify and assess nature value and species protection potential.
Identify, collect, and compile relevant datasets and GIS layers.
Conduct GIS-based analyses of natural areas using available data.
Identify areas with elevated likelihood of occurrence for protected species, red-listed species, and other conservation-priority species or nature values.
Incorporate known landscape relationships, habitat types, habitat quality, and other relevant factors into the analysis.
Develop a classification or prioritization of natural areas and document the criteria behind assessments.
Highlight uncertainties and knowledge gaps, and recommend areas where future field inventories should be prioritized.
Compile findings into a final report and deliver relevant GIS layers in standard GIS formats.
Requirements
Strong ecological knowledge and experience with GIS analyses.
Higher education degree in a relevant field, or equivalent professional experience.
Documented experience of at least 4 years in similar assignments.
