Job Duties
We are continuously developing a system that uses satellite data to monitor agricultural activity across Sweden. Would you like to join us on this journey?
In 2023, Jordbruksverket launched a new system that automatically interprets agricultural activity using data from the Sentinel satellites. This system requires ongoing maintenance as well as continuous development, including new types of analysis. You will primarily work within this area, handling tasks ranging from development to monitoring and supporting the evolution of remote sensing and agricultural applications.
The role involves frequent internal collaboration with stakeholders, developers, and end users, as well as external collaboration—nationally with other authorities and companies, and internationally with the European Commission and other EU member states.
You will join the GIS group within the Geodata and Payments Unit, which collectively handles assignments from various clients regarding the maintenance and further development of our GIS systems. System maintenance is a key part of your responsibilities, including requirement analysis, testing, and user support. Our users are located at Jordbruksverket and the County Administrative Boards.
Qualifications

You are skilled at solving complex problems, identifying relationships, and managing large volumes of information. Collaboration to achieve organizational goals is natural for you, and you build trust through clear and constructive communication with customers and colleagues. You communicate clearly and directly, both verbally and in writing, in Swedish and English.
You hold an academic degree in a field relevant to the position, or another education combined with experience that we assess as equivalent.
You also have solid knowledge of GIS, remote sensing, and satellite data—gained through education or professional experience—as well as documented experience with Python programming.
Meritorious qualifications include:
Experience with time-series analysis of satellite data
Experience with satellite-based radar data
Experience developing AI models and applying machine learning in image analysis
Any background or knowledge of agriculture
