About the Role
Role
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced professional for GIS documentation and ongoing maintenance of utility network data in the energy and utility infrastructure sector. You will collect pipeline and facility information in the field, update it in the Geographic Information System (GIS), and produce technical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD. As a specialist for GEONIS and Web-GIS, you will also support project planning and ensure reliable, structured data management.
This position integrates geoinformatics, technical drafting, and utility network documentation within energy and infrastructure systems.
Responsibilities
Capture, record, and maintain utility networks, installations, and structures in the GIS
Manage and ensure quality of GIS and geospatial data for technical utility infrastructure
Create and update utility, overview, and detail plans using AutoCAD
Support and apply GEONIS and the deployed Web-GIS solution operationally
Conduct field surveys and transfer collected data into digital network documentation
Review and validate pipeline, object, and attribute data; clean up existing datasets
Support departments with project planning, data provision, and technical analyses
Process building permit applications and provide relevant utility network information
Prepare technical reports, plan extracts, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders
Support the further development of GIS processes, data structures, and digital workflows
Collaborate with project managers, utility specialists, design offices, and executing companies on infrastructure projects
Qualifications
Completed vocational training (EFZ) as a geomatics engineer, technical drafter (civil engineering or electrical planning), or comparable technical education
Several years of professional experience in GIS, utility network documentation, surveying, or technical planning
Proficient user skills in GIS systems—ideally GEONIS and Web-GIS
Strong AutoCAD skills and experience in producing technical plan documentation
Experience in capturing, maintaining, and quality-assuring geospatial and utility network data
Knowledge of energy, water, or municipal utility networks is advantageous
Good written and spoken German
