Junior GIS Full-Stack Developer / GIS Developer (m/f/d)

We are looking for you as a Junior GIS Full-Stack Developer (m/f/d) at DB Fahrwegdienste GmbH in Berlin, starting as soon as possible.
Your Responsibilities
Develop technologies and components for our GIS-supported vegetation management system at DB Fahrwegdienste, supporting end users from data acquisition, management, and interaction to visualization.
Your daily tasks include database modeling for vegetation data, interface and architecture design, and supporting our data collection app QField.
Maintain and continuously modernize our GIS applications and components—including web interface, central database, WebGIS, and collection app—through targeted refactoring to ensure sustainable code evolution.
Support our specialists in frontend and backend development of our web application.
Manage a wide range of domain-specific data and prepare it for users and systems via a well-designed data and interface architecture. You will develop modern, consistent interfaces aligned with our data models using established API design concepts (REST).
Collaborate with the team to drive projects and feature enhancements, execute releases, and rotate responsibilities for day-to-day operations.
Design, automate, and continuously improve internal and user-oriented workflows.
Your Profile
Completed vocational or university degree in geoinformatics or a comparable field with initial professional experience; alternatively, a comparable vocational training with relevant professional experience.
Confident handling of geographic information systems (GIS) and relational databases, along with experience in designing GIS architectures, data flows, and geospatial data processing.
Practical experience in backend and frontend programming with Python, JavaScript, and React.
Knowledge of PostgreSQL, GeoServer, MapStore, QField, and QGIS, as well as hands-on experience with Git, Docker, WSL, and Linux is advantageous.
You approach new developments pragmatically and optimistically and emphasize documenting your solutions and approaches sustainably for the team.
You work in a service- and solution-oriented, structured, and communicative manner, and demonstrate strong team orientation.
