We are looking for you as a Junior GIS Developer / Full-Stack GIS Developer (m/f/d) at the earliest possible date for DB Fahrwegdienste GmbH in Berlin.
Your Responsibilities
You develop technologies and components for our GIS-supported vegetation management system at DB Fahrwegdienste, supporting end users from data ingestion, management, and interaction to visualization.
Your daily tasks include database modeling for vegetation data, interface and architecture design, and supporting our data collection app QField.
You continuously update and maintain our GIS applications and components—including web interfaces, central databases, WebGIS, and data collection apps—and ensure sustainable further development through targeted refactoring.
Additionally, you support our specialists in frontend and backend development of our web application.
You manage a wide range of domain-specific data and prepare it for users and systems via a well-thought-out data and interface architecture. In doing so, you develop modern, consistent interfaces aligned with our data models, based on established API design concepts (REST).
Together with the team, you work goal-oriented in projects and on feature enhancements, carry out releases, and take turns in supporting day-to-day operations.
Your profile is rounded out by conceptualizing, automating, and continuously improving internal and user-oriented workflows.
Your Profile
You have successfully completed a vocational or university degree in geoinformatics or a comparable field, with initial professional experience; alternatively, you bring a comparable vocational training with relevant work experience.
You are proficient in using geographic information systems and relational databases, and you have experience designing GIS architectures, data flows, and processing geospatial data.
You have practical experience in backend and frontend programming with Python, JavaScript, and React.
Knowledge of PostgreSQL, GeoServer, MapStore, QField, and QGIS, as well as hands-on experience with Git, Docker, WSL, and Linux, are advantageous.
You approach new developments in a pragmatic and optimistic way and place importance on documenting your solution strategies and steps sustainably for the team.
You work in a service- and solution-oriented, structured, and communicative manner, and demonstrate strong team orientation.
Operating and continuously developing a holistic and intuitive system for our users is your top priority.
