FUNCTION SUMMARY
The Surveying and Mapping section provides official municipal surveying and mapping services in support of the City’s planning, development, and infrastructure activities, enabling the successful delivery of City-led construction projects.
The incumbent is responsible for executing and coordinating assigned projects related to the production of official surveys and maps in accordance with applicable provincial laws, regulations, and directives. The position also involves obtaining external official surveys as needed and providing expert advice on official surveying matters to City staff and the general public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Degree obtained after four (4) years of study in geomatics engineering, geomatics sciences, or a related field.
Two (2) years of experience as a licensed Ontario Land Surveyor.
LICENSES AND ACCREDITATIONS
Registered Land Surveyor (Cadastral Surveying) with the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors (AOLS).
KNOWLEDGE
Concepts, theories, principles, methods, techniques, and practices of cadastral surveying, geodesy, hydrography, and photogrammetry.
Code of conduct and practice standards of the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors.
Provincial and federal laws and regulations regarding survey plans.
Real estate common law.
POLARIS parcel mapping.
Procedures and methods for engineering and control surveys.
MicroStation interactive graphics.
Computerized surveying systems and electronic instruments.
CAD methods and procedures.
Global Positioning System (GPS) methods and procedures.
Relevant health and safety legislation, including worker rights and obligations.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE
TOPOS and Vision software by Geo-Plus.

Plan, implement, monitor, and complete projects.
