Your Mission
At the Competence Center for Logistics in Emergency Medical Services, you will help establish methodological and structural foundations for sustainable, data-driven decision support in emergency response. Your work will focus on analyzing, modeling, and solving logistical challenges in emergency services using methods from operations research and data science.
Key Responsibilities
Develop simulation models to represent emergency medical service processes and structures (e.g., using AnyLogic).
Integrate historical incident data with geospatial and network data to design and test spatiotemporal forecasting models for incident patterns.
Evaluate the robustness of developed models against various sources of uncertainty.
Apply scientific methods from data science and operations research to real-world problems in emergency services.
Your Profile
Completed master’s degree (or equivalent diploma) in industrial engineering, (business/geo-)informatics, (technical/economic) mathematics, statistics, or a related field, with a focus on operations research applications.
Strong experience in modeling and implementing discrete-event and/or agent-based simulation models (e.g., with AnyLogic).
Proven experience in developing data-driven, spatiotemporal forecasts and planning scenarios.
Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Rust).
Interest in GIS-related methods and the processing, analysis, and visualization of geospatial data.
High level of initiative, meticulous and conscientious work ethic, and strong motivation for application-oriented scientific research.
Excellent command of both German and English (written and spoken).
What We Offer
A collaborative, values-driven team culture based on mutual respect and shared enthusiasm for our research areas.
