About the Role
With around 1,850 employees, the Erzgebirgskreis District Administration is one of the region’s largest employers. As a modern public administration, the district office serves the interests of approximately 316,000 residents through efficient and professionally competent work.
The dual study program at the Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Technik (HTW) Dresden qualifies you as a geospatial information expert. You will learn to use state-of-the-art measurement and computer technology for the acquisition, management, analysis, and presentation of geospatial data. Through this applied study program and practical training at the Landratsamt Erzgebirgskreis (Department of Rural Development and Surveying), you will gain early exposure to engineering tasks in surveying and geoinformatics. Key application areas include surveying, geoinformatics, land registry, rural development, and property valuation.
Practical Training Structure
During lecture- and exam-free periods and in the dedicated practical semester, you will gain insights into the district office’s operations and acquire your first professional experience. You will be closely supported by experienced practice mentors throughout your studies.
Study Content
Theoretical foundations are taught at HTW Dresden and include:
Mathematics and geodetic calculations
Geodesy
Land management, land consolidation, property valuation
Land management, GIS, geospatial infrastructures
Remote sensing, photogrammetry
Information technology and geoinformatics
Requirements
Personal Qualifications:
Completed secondary school leaving certificate (Abitur) or university of applied sciences entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife), with a minimum average grade of 2.5
Simple certificate of good conduct (Führungszeugnis) with no entries
Academic & Professional Skills:
Strong performance in mathematics and computer science (at least good); satisfactory performance in physics
Excellent German language and spelling skills
Prior internship in surveying is advantageous
Advanced IT skills and technical aptitude
Logical thinking and analytical abilities
Keen observation skills and interest in diverse tasks (both field and office work)
Independent, meticulous work ethic and strong self-organization
Social and communication skills, including clear expression
Resilience, reliability, flexibility, and teamwork orientation
What We Offer
Early exposure to a reliable and highly experienced practice partner
Training allowance according to TVöD-V:
- 1st year: approx. €1,490/month
- 2nd year: approx. €1,550/month
- 3rd year: approx. €1,650/month
30 vacation days per calendar year, plus non-working days on 24 December and 31 December
