About the Role
Position Overview
To ensure continuous access to up-to-date, high-quality, and reliable information about our drinking water and sewer networks, all related data is managed within the Network Data Management department. This includes detailed measurement and mapping of network data—such as location, material, depth, and diameter—followed by careful validation, loading, and digitization into our GIS system.
A team of specialists, each focusing on specific GIS applications or services, ensures smooth, efficient, and high-quality use of these tools and services by field staff. This involves developing and optimizing guidelines, delivering training, monitoring data quality, capturing user needs and expectations, and translating them into actionable requirements for the ICT department.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of four GIS specialists, ensuring effective daily coordination and technical/functional guidance.
Oversee team projects and tasks to monitor workload, adjust planning and organization as needed, and ensure timely delivery.
Serve as an accessible point of contact for your team, providing coaching and support on both technical and content-related matters.
Ensure alignment and prioritization of projects and tasks, translating strategic goals into clear operational directives.
Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of team processes, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and uniformity—working collaboratively with stakeholders to refine workflows and deliver validated content (e.g., GIS documentation, user guides, policy notes).
Foster knowledge sharing, information flow, and mutual alignment across teams and departments—including field users, the ICT GIS unit, and internal colleagues—through mechanisms such as key-user meetings, training programs, timely communication during incidents, and stakeholder updates on new releases or revised guidelines.
Dive deeply into our (sometimes complex) GIS and IT systems (e.g., Esri software, FME, SAP integrations), growing into a subject-matter expert. Collaborate with the ICT GIS unit to track technological trends and further digitalize and standardize GIS processes.
Profile & Qualifications
Master’s degree.
Minimum 4 years of experience in a leadership or coordination role.
Proven experience in developing and/or improving operational processes and procedures.
Solid familiarity with GIS applications, tools, and services, and how they are applied in real-world operational contexts.
