What You’ll Do As a Geospatial Engineer, you’ll develop solutions that turn geospatial data into actionable intelligence for safety and recovery use cases. A strong example is a project focused on improving terrain passability: providing insights into where and how easily vehicles and other assets can move through a given area. Currently, many countries and organizations rely on their own maps, datasets, and standards—and analyses and data production are often manual and time-consuming. This leads to outdated maps and risks of miscommunication or poor decisions. That’s why we’re building a scalable, standardized solution: a single, up-to-date data foundation that everyone can use. In this role, you’ll contribute to the technical development of this solution. You’ll work with diverse geospatial data sources—including satellite, radar, and drone data—and help process them efficiently and at scale. Your responsibilities may include: Processing, managing, analyzing, and integrating multiple geospatial data sources. Developing and improving geospatial workflows and data products. Designing solutions that can be deployed across multiple countries or users. Exploring how new data sources and techniques can be integrated. Collaborating with developers, data scientists, geospatial experts, and other specialists at Terramira. You won’t work on isolated solutions. A core principle at Terramira is Build once, Scale forever—new capabilities developed for Safety & Security can be reused across other clients and applications. In this way, you’ll help strengthen not just individual projects, but the entire organization. You’ll work across multiple Safety & Security projects simultaneously—such as terrain analysis, infrastructure monitoring, and change detection in the physical environment—giving you the chance to deepen your geospatial expertise while delivering tangible operational impact. What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone energized by geospatial data and passionate about solving complex geographic challenges. You have 2–5 years of relevant experience and are ready for a role where you can combine technical skills with meaningful, real-world problems. You likely: Hold an HBO/WO degree (e.g., geoinformatics, GIS, earth sciences, computer science, or a related field); Have 2–5 years of experience with geospatial data, GIS, or geospatial software development; Experience processing and analyzing geographic datasets; Programming skills, especially in Python; Interest in working with remote sensing and Earth Observation data; Strong analytical thinking and enjoy untangling complex problems; Ability to work independently while proactively seeking collaboration; Fluent in both Dutch and English (written and spoken). Bonus experience (not required): PostGIS / PostgreSQL GDAL / GeoPandas / Rasterio OGC standards Cloud environments (e.g., AWS) Docker and CI/CD Hyperspectral, radar, and drone data Sovereign, independent environments What We Offer At Terramira, you’ll have room to grow and help shape a dynamic, evolving organization.
