Werkzaamheden (Key Responsibilities)
GIS Application Management & Maintenance
- Coordinate configuration, installation, and updates of GIS software and platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, Elias, Socet GXP).
- Document configuration parameters, release packages, and technical acceptance criteria.
Data Management for Maps & Mission Information
- Ensure accurate ingestion, storage, version control, and security of map and mission datasets (raster, vector, metadata).
- Implement procedures for data integrity, archiving, and distribution across information systems.
Integration & Interoperability
- Design and maintain interfaces between GIS systems and other applications (e.g., Command & Control, training simulations).
- Optimize spatial data exchange using standards (OGC, WMS/WFS, GeoJSON).
User Support & Training
- Advise and support instructors, students, and other users on efficient and secure use of GIS tools.
- Develop user documentation and deliver (online) training sessions.
Security & Compliance
- Apply defensive security procedures to GIS data (encryption, access & authorization management).
- Ensure GIS processes comply with applicable regulations and policy frameworks.
Other Tasks
- Contribute to ISA projects and services, participate in ICT activities, and support continuity of the ICT Bureau.
Functie-eisen (Requirements)
Kennis, Inzicht & Vaardigheden (Knowledge, Insight & Skills)
Knowledge of GIS architecture, spatial data models, cartographic principles, and relevant standards (OGC, ISO 19115).
Understanding of CLAS, OOCL, JISTARC, and ISA organizational structures, and geo-data security procedures.
Skills in managing GIS platforms, scripting (Python with GDAL/ArcPy, PowerShell), database administration (PostGIS, Oracle Spatial), and basic network/systems knowledge (Windows Server, Linux).
Kwalificaties (Qualifications)
Minimum MBO-4 in ICT or a relevant field (e.g., Geoinformatics, GIS Engineering) with demonstrable HBO-level analytical skills.
Certifications such as ESRI Technical Associate, GISP, or equivalent are advantageous.
Proven experience managing GIS environments and integrating geospatial data into complex defense information systems.

Overige Arbeidsvoorwaarden (Additional Benefits – Individueel Keuze Budget / IKB)
From 2025, defense employees will no longer receive holiday allowance and year-end bonus as separate payments, but will build these up monthly via the Individueel Keuze Budget (IKB) — equal to 16.33% of the gross salary. The IKB can be used for:
Up to 15% of salary for exchanging commuting reimbursement.
Covering the monthly difference between actual commuting cost reimbursement and the fiscal maximum.
A personal bicycle (including accessories and insurance).
A computer for work or study (including accessories and insurance).
Battery or electric components for a bicycle.
Payment of union membership fees.

Selectieproces (Selection Process)
