The Royal Netherlands Army is looking for an Intelligence & Security Geospatial Analyst (I&V GSA).
Work location: At the barracks, as well as during exercises and deployments.

If selected, you will be appointed by the Ministry of Defence as an ‘Intelligence & Security (I&V) Geospatial Analyst (GSA)’.
What You’ll Do
As an I&V GSA, you will work in a multidisciplinary team of analysts, supporting missions, projects, deployments, and exercises lasting from a few weeks up to 4–6 months.
Your role is to describe and analyze the spatial and temporal aspects of the physical environment and events occurring within it. Your analyses may include:
Suitability analyses
Terrain analyses
Geostatistics
Remote sensing analyses
Your geospatial insights will be integrated with analyses from other disciplines to gain operational situational awareness and produce intelligence products that support military planning and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct geospatial analysis to support military operations
Collaborate in multinational teams (e.g., with NATO partners in missions such as those in Mali and Lithuania)
Support police investigations under the third core task of the Ministry of Defence
Participate in domestic and international exercises and deployments

Salary: €4,050 – €4,450 gross per month (scale 23–30)

Where You’ll Work
You will be stationed at the Joint ISTAR Commando (JISTARC) in ’t Harde. ISTAR stands for Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance. JISTARC collects and analyzes information to provide commanders with a comprehensive and up-to-date operational picture.
As a GSA, you are both a geospatial specialist and a military officer. While your primary workplace is the barracks in ’t Harde, you will also participate in exercises and deployments—often in an international context.
Training Path
Before starting your role, you will complete:
Defence-Wide Short Officer Training (DKOO) – 1 year at the Royal Military Academy (KMA) in Breda
Vocational Training in Intelligence & Security (I&V) – 7 months at the Intelligence & Security Academy (ISA)
Additional geospatial training once on the job
