About the Role
Staffanstorp is a young, growing municipality with over 27,000 residents, ranked among Sweden’s best for business climate, living environments, and schools. With around 1,200 employees, the municipality strives to deliver high-quality services that promote safety, well-being, and quality of life for its citizens. As a staff member, you’ll be part of a collaborative, trust-based organization with fast decision-making and supportive leadership.
Department: City Planning Administration (Stadsbyggnadsförvaltningen)
The City Planning Administration comprises four departments: Planning & Development, Environment & Building Permits, Technical Affairs, and Geographic Information.
Geoinfo Unit
Geoinfo consists of eight staff members and a manager, serving as the Surveying and Mapping Department for both Staffanstorp and Kävlinge municipalities. It includes a GIS section and a Surveying section, operating from both the Town Hall in Staffanstorp and the Municipal House in Kävlinge. Approximately half of its activities are self-financed, with a strong focus on quality, service, and customer satisfaction.
We are now looking to strengthen GIS expertise in two of Skåne’s fastest-growing municipalities.
Key Responsibilities
As a GIS Engineer, you will develop and process geographic information to support decision-making and operational workflows across the organization. Results are typically visualized and delivered via the municipality’s central GIS platform.
You will empower case handlers in both municipalities to easily collect and manage their operational data through user-friendly GIS applications. You recognize the value of automation and digitalization, and actively promote the use of geospatial information to enhance efficiency and innovation.
Geoinfo currently holds an FME municipal license and is actively expanding its use.
Your responsibilities include:
Designing custom GIS solutions using the ESRI platform, FME, and programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or SQL
Automating processes, workflows, and data management using FME
Publishing web maps, producing cartographic products, extracting data, and performing GIS analyses
You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of tasks, tailored to your experience and interests, to support organizational development.
In addition to Geoinfo, you will collaborate closely with case handlers in the City Planning Administration in Staffanstorp and the Social Infrastructure Sector in Kävlinge, as well as other departments across both municipalities. A key part of our mission is to spread GIS practices and tools across the organization to improve operational efficiency.
The GIS section at Geoinfo also functions as a competence center for both municipalities, supporting GIS-related projects and promoting GIS knowledge to improve services for residents.

Holds an academic degree or equivalent qualification deemed relevant by the employer
Has experience or interest in one or more of the following areas: system administration, geographic information, documentation, automation processes, web mapping, cartography, property law, information security, Python, FME, and SQL
