Municipal Building Authority (Stadsbyggnadsförvaltningen) The Municipal Building Authority consists of four departments handling planning and development, environmental and building permits, technical matters, and geographic information. Geoinfo (Geographic Information Unit) Geoinfo comprises eight staff members and a manager. It serves as the Surveying and Mapping Department for both Staffanstorps and Kävlinge municipalities, divided into a GIS section and a Surveying section. Our teams are based at the Town Hall in Staffanstorps and the Municipal House in Kävlinge. Approximately half of our operations are self-financed, with a strong focus on quality, service, and satisfied customers. We now aim to jointly strengthen GIS expertise in two of Skåne’s fastest-growing municipalities! Job Duties As a GIS Engineer, you will develop and process geographic information to serve as decision support and operational tools across the organization. You’ll often visualize and present results via the municipality’s overarching GIS platform. You’ll enable case handlers in both Staffanstorps and Kävlinge municipalities to easily collect their operational data using user-friendly GIS applications. You recognize the value of automating and digitizing workflows, see the potential of geographic information in these processes, and actively promote GIS adoption across the organization. Geoinfo currently holds an FME municipal license and is actively expanding its use. Your responsibilities include: Designing custom GIS solutions using the ESRI platform, FME, and programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or SQL Automating processes, workflows, and data management using FME Publishing to web maps, cartography, data extraction, and GIS analysis Geoinfo plays a vital role in both municipalities, and as a GIS Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of tasks—tailored to your experience and interests—to support organizational development as much as possible. In addition to Geoinfo, you’ll collaborate closely with case handlers primarily in the Municipal Building Authority in Staffanstorps and the Social Infrastructure Sector in Kävlinge, as well as with other departments across both municipalities. A key part of our work is spreading GIS practices to other departments and simplifying their operations. The GIS section within Geoinfo also functions as a competence center for both municipalities, supporting GIS-related projects and promoting GIS knowledge and better products for residents.
