About the Role
Company: Gasunie
The energy transition, the need to reduce CO₂ emissions, and the closure of the Groningen gas field are transforming how Gasunie manages and develops its energy infrastructure. At the same time, digitalization plays an increasingly important role. As a result, Gasunie is building a smarter, more digital energy infrastructure—ready for the energy system of the future.
For our Geographic Information Systems (GIS), this means working toward a fully digital representation of our energy infrastructure. We use this information throughout the entire asset lifecycle: from design and construction to operation, maintenance, and eventual decommissioning. This enables more efficient work and easier collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Within the GIS team, we are looking to strengthen our capabilities to further enable this evolution.
As a GIS Functional Administrator, you will be part of a role where GIS, digitalization, and the energy infrastructure of the future converge. You will contribute to the further development of our GIS systems and ensure they meet the evolving needs of the organization and its users—directly supporting smarter, more efficient management of our energy infrastructure.
Location:
You will work from our office in Groningen. Hybrid working is also an option.
Hours per week:
32 to 40 hours
What Will You Do?
As a GIS Functional Administrator, together with your colleagues, you will ensure our GIS solutions operate reliably and continue to meet user needs.
This makes your work varied: one moment you’ll be handling daily operations and monitoring applications and integrated systems; the next, you’ll be collaborating with the development team on new or improved solutions.
You will frequently coordinate with functional and technical administrators, developers, and end users. You will help design solutions that are stable in production while remaining simple and efficient to use.
Your Key Responsibilities Include:
Managing and monitoring the operation of GIS applications and their associated systems;
Performing daily administrative tasks and resolving issues;
Collaborating with the development team on new or enhanced GIS solutions;
Translating user requirements into practical, implementable solutions;
Supporting users through documentation and training.
The combination of daily operations and strategic development makes this role especially engaging. You will ensure the current GIS environment remains robust while simultaneously contributing to the further digitalization of Gasunie’s energy infrastructure.
What Do You Bring?
You have an HBO or WO level of working and thinking ability, with several years of demonstrable experience in functional ICT system administration.
You have experience with GIS, GIS standards, and GIS applications such as HxGN Networks Core or Smallworld. You are also familiar with tools like ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, Survey123, and/or FME.
You have knowledge of and experience with IT architecture and data-driven working.
You have knowledge of SQL (e.g., SQL Server or Oracle) and experience with Agile methodologies and Azure DevOps.
You have excellent command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written.
As a person, you are structured, precise, and hold high standards for the quality of your work. You are analytically strong and use creativity to develop practical solutions. You think ahead, proactively identify needs, and actively contribute to the team. Thanks to your strong communication skills, you easily build good relationships with both technical colleagues and internal users. Even when priorities or tasks change, you remain flexible, resilient, and focused on achieving results.
What Do We Offer?
A gross monthly salary between €5,416 and a maximum of €7,366 (scale 65) based on a full-time contract. In addition, you receive a fixed 13th-month salary (vacation allowance) and a 14th-month payment.
