About the role
As a GIS Section Head, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating GIS and geospatial activities to support the Company's land management, forestry planning, operational planning, and decision-making processes. This role will oversee the accuracy, availability, and integration of spatial data while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, and operational standards.
Key responsibilities:
Lead and supervise GIS activities, including spatial data management, mapping, digitization, geospatial analysis, and map production to support company operations.
Manage and maintain the SLUS (Surface & Land Use Statement) / Area Statement Database and Company Land Bank data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and up-to-date information.
Process, analyze, and integrate various spatial datasets, including GPS, drone, satellite imagery, and other field data.
Perform map digitization, image rectification/georeferencing, spatial data processing, and conversion between geospatial file formats such as Shapefile, GeoTIFF, KML, and other relevant formats.
Coordinate the preparation and maintenance of GIS databases, thematic maps, operational maps, and other geospatial products required by the Company.
Support the preparation, review, and implementation of Annual Work Plans (RKTPH) and 10 Year Business Work Plans (RKUPH) through accurate spatial data and mapping.
Support the interpretation and utilization of Forest Utilization Direction Maps for PBPH (Forest Utilization Business Permit) and other relevant forestry planning maps.
Provide GIS and spatial analysis support for forestry planning, land-use planning, environmental management, and operational activities.
Coordinate the integration of GIS data with field verification results, including GPS surveys and drone-based mapping.
Operate or coordinate drone mapping activities when required to support surveying, monitoring, and spatial data collection.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (S1) in Geography, Geology, Geodesy, Forestry, or other relevant disciplines.
Minimum 4–5 years of professional experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), geospatial mapping, or related fields.
Previous experience in the plantation, forestry, or natural resources industry is highly preferred.
Experience in a Forestry Planning Technical Staff role is preferred.
Proficient in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and Agisoft.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.
Strong experience in managing SLUS / Area Statement Database / Company Land Bank.
Strong analytical, problem solving, and data management skills.
Good communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Active English proficiency, both written and spoken.
