About the Role (Ref: SRQ133782) As a GIS Specialist, you will contribute to the development of Cortelande and the Public Space Management cluster by ensuring that geospatial information, analyses, and visualizations effectively support spatial development, maintenance, and decision-making processes. You will work with diverse datasets and translate complex information into practical insights for project managers, maintenance staff, and colleagues. Your work will directly support one of the most notable area development projects in the Netherlands and help advance the professionalization of geospatial information within the organization. You will serve two internal clients: the Middengebied Zuidplaspolder assignment and the Public Space Management department. You will collaborate across disciplines, supporting both the development phase of a new village and ongoing public space maintenance tasks. You will also have the opportunity to help shape data-driven workflows, modern GIS processes, and the integration of development goals into operational maintenance. Key Responsibilities Collect, structure, and make accessible available and newly generated data for Cortelande’s development and Public Space Management. Process base, research, technical, and design information, and identify relationships across diverse data sources. Support project managers and advisors with analyses, visualizations, and information delivery during and after the village’s development. Advise on assets and potential conflicts among development components. Manage, update, and analyze geographic and spatial datasets. Conduct spatial analyses and translate results into actionable insights and recommendations. Develop, maintain, and optimize digital maps, dashboards, story maps, and other geospatial products. Advise project managers and colleagues on GIS capabilities and applications. Translate organizational and client questions into practical GIS solutions. Support projects with geospatial data, spatial analyses, and visualizations. Ensure and improve the quality, consistency, and reliability of geospatial information and GIS products. Manage GIS platforms, data sources, and information structures; optimize GIS processes, data management, and information flows. Functionally manage GIS applications and support end users. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on geospatial information, data, and information management. Contribute to data-driven working by making geospatial information accessible and usable across the organization. Advise on cost estimates and land exploitation for area development assignments. Act as a member of the Middengebied development project team. Requirements HBO-level education, preferably in Geo-informatics, Geo-ICT, Geography, Geomatics, or a related field. Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in the geospatial or GIS domain. Physical presence at the town hall at least 3 days per week (or as agreed, e.g., Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays). Experience with GIS applications—preferably the ESRI platform, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Portal, and related tools. Experience processing, analyzing, and visualizing geospatial data and spatial information. Knowledge of geographic information systems, geospatial datasets, and spatial analysis techniques. Understanding of core GIS concepts: coordinate systems, projections, geometries, and data models. Familiarity with Dutch national registers and geospatial standards, such as BAG, BGT, BRK, and preferably IMBOR. Affinity with data analysis, data quality, and information management. Ability to translate complex issues into practical, usable GIS solutions. Proficiency in Dutch, both spoken and written.
