Position: GIS Specialist for the New Town of Cortelande and Public Domain Management (BOR)
Hours: 32–36 hours per week
Start Date: 1 November 2026
Location: Town Hall, Raadhuisplein 1, 2914 KM Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel
Zuidplas is a rapidly growing municipality formed by the merger of five towns—including the newly developing Cortelande. As part of its strategic expansion, Zuidplas is building Cortelande: a new town designed for 8,000 homes, two business parks, social and commercial facilities, and recreational space—all climate-resilient and 100% energy-neutral.
You will work across two core areas:
Middengebied Development (Cortelande): Supporting spatial planning, land acquisition, and infrastructure development through geospatial analysis, data integration, and visualization.
Public Domain Management (BOR): Enhancing asset management through modern GIS practices, data governance, and digital dashboards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage, update, and analyze geographic and spatial datasets (e.g., BAG, BGT, BRK, IMBOR).
Conduct spatial analyses and translate results into actionable insights and advice.
Develop, maintain, and optimize digital maps, dashboards, StoryMaps, and other geo-information products using tools like ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Portal, GeoWeb, and FME.
Advise project managers and colleagues on geo-data applications, conflicts, and opportunities.
Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across GIS platforms and workflows.
Support cost estimation and land exploitation analyses for the Middengebied project.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on data and information management.
Contribute to a data-driven culture by making geospatial information accessible and usable across the organization.
Required Qualifications & Experience
HBO (WO-equivalent) level of working and thinking, preferably in Geo-informatics, Geo-ICT, Geography, Geomatics, or a related field.
Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in GIS or geospatial domains.
Proven experience with ESRI platforms (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Portal, etc.) and geoprocessing tools (e.g., FME).
Solid knowledge of GIS concepts: coordinate systems, projections, geometry, data models.
Familiarity with Dutch national registries and standards (BAG, BGT, BRK, IMBOR).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex questions into practical GIS solutions.
Excellent Dutch language skills (written and spoken).
Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and with diverse stakeholders.
Customer-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn about new developments in the geospatial field.
Flexible, collaborative, and able to balance competing stakeholder interests.
Self-motivated, service-oriented, and environmentally conscious.
Additional Information
Contract Type: Detachement (secondment), not suitable for ZZP (self-employed) due to DBA regulations.
Physical Presence: Minimum 3 days per week at the town hall (Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays).
