About the Role
GIS Specialist / Technical Designer at Tårnby Forsyning
Tårnby Forsyning supplies water, wastewater, district heating, and district cooling, continuously developing, maintaining, and documenting our utility networks and facilities. Precise, up-to-date GIS data and technical drawings are essential—this is where you come in. As a GIS specialist, you will take on a cross-functional role within the company, supporting GIS tasks across all utility domains.
You will work closely with our current GIS specialist and maintain daily contact with project managers, operational staff, and other colleagues who require GIS data and technical documentation. Your workday will be diverse, including tasks such as registering, updating, and quality-assuring our pipeline and facility data. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across the company and external partners.
A major part of your role will involve district heating, as we are expanding the district heating network across the municipality in the coming years. GIS is a vital tool across Tårnby Forsyning, and you will support the entire organization with GIS data, mapping materials, and technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Digitizing pipeline and facility data based on input from contractors and other partners
Mapping and updating relevant project and coverage areas
Quality-assuring existing GIS data
Updating existing data based on new knowledge of pipelines, facilities, and locations
Registering and maintaining relevant information in the GIS system
Reviewing submitted drawing materials
Building and maintaining metadata
Coordinating GIS data and project areas with relevant colleagues, including extracting address lists and road data
Contributing GIS expertise and support across all utility domains
We Are Looking for Someone Who:
Has experience with GIS—particularly QGIS 3.34 or newer, including layer editing and setting up/updating maps and mapping solutions
Has knowledge of utility infrastructure and technical pipeline/facility data (an advantage)
Has experience with SharePoint and/or Enterprise Portals or similar documentation platforms (an advantage)
As a Person, You:
Work analytically, structurally, and persistently, with attention to detail and data quality
Take ownership of your area of expertise and apply your knowledge for the benefit of colleagues and customers
Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
Enjoy interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues and external stakeholders
Can set clear expectations for partners and thrive in a dynamic environment where tasks and priorities may shift
We Offer:
At Tårnby Forsyning, we prioritize being a pleasant workplace. We have an informal environment with a flat hierarchy and a culture of mutual support to get tasks done successfully. You will join a strong, collegial community where expertise and humor are welcome—whether at our summer party, Christmas lunch, or Friday socials.
Working Hours and Location:
The position is part-time (20–25 hours/week), with working hours to be scheduled within our standard hours (Mon–Thu: 8:00–16:00; Fri: 8:00–13:00)
Your daily workplace will be at our office at Gemmas Alle 39, 2770 Kastrup (waterworks). We also have colleagues at our wastewater treatment plant at Kastrup Strandpark 22.
This is a 2-year project-based position with potential for extension.
Salary and terms are set according to the relevant collective agreement (KL), with opportunities for negotiating additional allowances beyond the base salary.
Tårnby Forsyning keeps the city running 24/7. We ensure clean drinking water, treated wastewater, and stable district heating and cooling. We continuously evolve to secure a future-proof utility system capable of meeting tomorrow’s challenges.
Bring your expertise to us and make a difference alongside dedicated colleagues.
