About the Role
The City of Ratingen, with around 93,000 residents, is the largest city in the Mettmann district. It offers a historic old town, scenic location between the Rhine and Ruhr rivers, rich cultural and leisure offerings, excellent transport links, and modern infrastructure—ensuring a high quality of life.
The Digitalization and Information Technology Office actively shapes the digital transformation of the city administration. It coordinates cooperation with external IT service providers, provides central IT services to the administration, and continuously develops digital administrative processes.
Within the GIS Management Unit, the position of
GIS Support Specialist (m/f/d)
is to be filled as soon as possible.
Your responsibilities include:
Administering the GIS infrastructure (conceptualization, installation, maintenance, and upkeep) to ensure the availability of spatially referenced specialist applications, thereby directly supporting the digitalization of administrative workflows involving spatial data
Managing centralized, cross-departmental geodata: converting, preparing, enhancing, and delivering geodata for all applications in spatial information processing
Providing application and user support, assisting staff in using their domain-specific GIS tools
Participating in inter-municipal project and working groups in the area of Open Data, and supporting departmental and office leadership in developing new strategies in this field
You bring:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Geography, Surveying, Geoinformatics, Computer Science, or a comparable qualification
Several years of experience working with geographic information systems and geospatial data infrastructures
Ideally, solid knowledge of IT service management according to ITIL standards
Foundational understanding of Open Data principles
Strong communication and teamwork skills
