The City of Duisburg is seeking a technical specialist (m/f/d) for the Central Geo/GIS Management unit within the Department of Land Management, Geomanagement, and Cadastre, Subdepartment of Surveying, Cadastre, and Geoinformation.
In the Central Geo/GIS Management unit, the city’s geospatial data holdings are consolidated, managed, analyzed, and made available for diverse applications. You will join a committed team that looks forward to your energetic support.
Key Responsibilities
Support and maintain the city’s urban digital (base) twins and 3D city models, including:
- Characteristic topography and actual land use (ABK)
- Integration of heterogeneous and complex datasets and data models
Administration of specialized software
Evaluation of new methods and technologies
Quality management of geospatial data and their models
Professional Qualifications
For Civil Servants (Beamte/Beamte):
Completed university-level education (Bachelor’s or FH Diplom) in surveying/geodesy/geography or geoinformatics/geomatics
At least 2 years of relevant professional experience following acquisition of the above qualification
Eligibility for appointment to Grade 2 civil service, entry-level position in the surveying technical administrative service of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia
For Employees (Angestellte):
Completed university-level education (Bachelor’s or FH Diplom) in surveying/geodesy/geography or geoinformatics/geomatics
At least 2 years of relevant professional experience following acquisition of the above qualification
Personal Competencies
Current, in-depth technical expertise and a commitment to continuous professional development
Knowledge of 3D, BIM, and digital twins, or willingness to acquire these competencies quickly
Experience with various GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) or readiness to gain proficiency shortly
Very good command of German (written and spoken, minimum C1 level)
Strong social, communication, and teamwork skills
Ability to work independently and responsibly
