Job Description
We are seeking an expert in river and riparian ecological restoration following flood events—such as a Forestry Engineer, Civil Engineer, Environmental Engineer, Geographer, or similar technical professional—with advanced expertise in QGIS, spatial analysis, bioengineering techniques, and nature-based solutions (NbS), to deliver online training.
The training will equip technicians and managers with the skills to diagnose flood-related damage, plan and prioritize river restoration interventions, and develop post-event restoration plans.
Requirements
Advanced knowledge of river restoration, diagnosis of channels and banks, and planning of restoration actions following flood events.
Strong proficiency in QGIS for territorial analysis, damage assessment, and spatial prioritization of interventions.
Experience interpreting and using LiDAR data, orthophotos, and other geospatial information sources for fluvial environment diagnosis.
Advanced knowledge of bioengineering techniques, nature-based solutions (NbS), and ecological restoration of riparian zones.
Experience in planning and preliminary design of restoration works, including solution definition, measurements, cost estimation, and administrative constraints.
Knowledge of multi-criteria analysis applied to GIS, especially AHP and Weighted Overlay methodologies.
Familiarity with the regulatory framework governing flood risk management and river restoration.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in drafting projects, technical reports, or river restoration plans, and in interfacing with hydraulic or environmental authorities.
Academic Qualifications
Required: Degree in Forestry Engineering, Forest Engineering, Civil Engineering (Roads, Canals, Ports), Environmental Engineering, Geography, Environmental Sciences, or a closely related technical field.
Responsibilities
Development of training documentation in line with company standards.
Delivery of online courses via scheduled sessions.
Execution of consultancy projects.
Contract & Employment Terms
Indefinite but discontinuous contract or self-employed (freelance) arrangement.
Part-time, periodic work compatible with other professional activities.
Fully remote position, with a weekly commitment of 8–10 hours.
