What You’ll Do
Everything RVO does has a geographic component—every regulation we register is tied to a specific location on the map. For example, the new Common Agricultural Policy (nGLB) requires us to understand the effects of our policies and their outcomes for the Netherlands and Europe. As a Geodata Engineer, your work is essential to this mission.
What You’ll Work On
Develop complex geospatial data products and services within RVO’s central data platform—the organization’s hub for (geo)data. This includes dashboards, workspaces, data analyses, and data science outputs.
Contribute to an efficient data flow between various RVO teams and (external) partners.
Coordinate common geodata engineering challenges and ensure quality standards across the Data department by guiding and mentoring fellow data colleagues.
Stay up to date on emerging data engineering trends and advise on their application to improve internal processes.
Further develop the GEO discipline at RVO, in collaboration with colleagues.
Help professionalize the team and closely cooperate with other teams in the Data department.
Maintain contact with various stakeholders in the field of data engineering.
Participate in data working groups and share your knowledge.

You have a good command of Dutch (written and spoken, B2 level).

Preferred Experience on Your CV:
Minimum HBO or HBO-WO work and thinking level (equivalent to Bachelor’s or Master’s degree).
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the geospatial data field.
Broad knowledge of GIS tools and their applications.
At least 5 years of demonstrable experience with:
- Developing workspaces in FME Form (desktop).
- Using FME Flow (server) and all its features.
Experience with ETL processes for large datasets from the Basisregistraties (e.g., BAG, BGT, BRK).
Proficiency in SQL for Oracle databases.
Knowledge of core components of the Esri platform: ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Pro.
What You’ll Receive
Salary scale 12: €4,818 – €7,094 gross per month (based on a 36-hour workweek).
Fixed-term contract of 1 year, with the possibility of a permanent contract depending on performance and project developments.
Working hours: 32–36 hours per week.

Additional Information
Hybrid Working
At RVO, we work hybrid. For this role, you are expected to be present at our Utrecht office 1–2 days per week. On other days, you can work remotely (from home, an RVO office, or elsewhere).
