General Requirements:
HBO/WO (Bachelor’s/Master’s) level of thinking;
Several years of relevant experience in the GEO/GIS domain;
Experience with technical application administration on Windows platforms;
Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies;
Native or C1-level proficiency in Dutch (spoken and written);
A healthy dose of energy, responsibility, and enthusiasm.
Technical Knowledge & Experience:
Proven experience with ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Enterprise, and Portal for ArcGIS;
Proven experience with FME Desktop and FME Flow (Server);
Installation, configuration, administration, and optimization of ArcGIS and FME platforms;
Experience with server administration, virtualization, network configuration, and security;
Knowledge of authentication and authorization (LDAP, Azure AD, SAML);
Understanding of data modeling and database administration (MS SQL);
Experience with APIs, REST services, token management, and scripting (SQL and/or Python);
Familiarity with open-source GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, MapServer) is a plus;
Experience with enterprise environments and CI/CD pipelines is a plus;
FME and/or Esri certifications are a plus.
What You’ll Do:
As a Technical GIS Platform Administrator, you’ll be responsible for the administration, continuity, and further development of the complete GIS platform—where ArcGIS and FME are equally important pillars.
Your responsibilities include:
GIS Platform Administration (ArcGIS & FME):
Monitoring and managing generic GIS services, including ArcGIS Enterprise and FME Flow;
Keeping the GIS infrastructure operationally current and up-to-date;
Planning, coordinating, and executing installations, upgrades, and migrations of ArcGIS and FME environments;
Onboarding and integrating new GIS and FME applications;
Managing changes and capacity planning.
Operational Administration & Support:
Managing users, groups, and access rights in ArcGIS and FME;
Troubleshooting and resolving platform- and admin-level issues;
Investigating, resolving, and preventing incidents and outages;
Supporting users and development teams in using ArcGIS and FME;
Assisting in building, testing, and migrating FME workspaces.
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing:
Coordinating with vendors and support partners (e.g., Esri, Safe Software);
Advising DevOps, project, and operations teams on GIS platform usage;
Documenting administration procedures and actively contributing to team knowledge sharing.
Where You’ll Be Placed:
You’ll join the Infrastructure unit within the Vital Civil Infrastructures (VCI) sector, supporting organizations responsible for critical Dutch infrastructure—including transport, roads, water, rail, gas, water, and energy.
You’ll work long-term with (semi-)governmental organizations on complex administration platforms, delivering reusable building blocks across multiple domains—with GIS as a key enabler.
