Master’s Thesis Internship (6 months)
GIS and Geospatial Data Analyst Intern
Location: Aussonne, France
Duration: 6 months
Start Date: Flexible
Work Model: Primarily on-site, with up to 2 days of remote work per week
About the Internship
We are seeking a motivated Master’s student to join our seed production team for a 6-month internship in the final year of a Master’s or engineering program, or during a gap year. This is an exciting opportunity to apply geospatial technologies and data analysis to real-world agricultural production and field trial operations.
The intern will contribute to improving field mapping processes and data quality management by leveraging GIS technologies, data analytics, and cloud-based databases. Collaborating closely with production teams, the intern will help use field-collected data to enhance operational efficiency.
Approximately 10% of the internship time will be spent in the field to gain firsthand understanding of data collection processes and operational realities directly from production teams.
Project Objectives
The internship will focus on two main areas:
GIS Process Improvement and Data Quality Control
Analyze current field mapping workflows used in production.
Support the development and automation of GIS processes using ArcGIS.
Improve mapping efficiency and reduce manual data processing efforts.
Design and implement quality control mechanisms to ensure accuracy and consistency of parcel boundaries and spatial data.
Develop geospatial visualizations and mapping products to support decision-making.
Data Analysis and DataLake Exploration
Explore and analyze agricultural data stored in enterprise DataLake environments.
Develop reports and dashboards to monitor data quality and operational KPIs.
Analyze key metrics such as data completeness, min/max/mean values, and field measurement distributions.
Link geospatial data with financial data to generate parcel-level insights.
Identify opportunities to improve data governance and reporting capabilities.
Expected Deliverables
By the end of the internship, the selected candidate will have delivered:
Automated or semi-automated GIS workflows to reduce manual mapping effort.
A practical data quality control framework for field mapping data.
Dashboards and/or reports connected to DataLake data sources.
Geospatial visualizations of production and field trial data.
Recommendations for future GIS and data management improvements.
Documentation and knowledge transfer materials for end users.
