About the Role
GIS Developer – Utilities & Water
Functiebeschrijving (Note: This job posting is only open to native-level or near-native Dutch speakers. If you are not proficient in Dutch, please explore our other job postings.)
Do you speak native or near-native Dutch? Then keep reading! You’ll contribute to GIS systems that form the digital backbone of vital infrastructure—serving 8 million people with drinking water, supporting national energy networks, and enabling critical transport systems like ProRail.
What You’ll Do
Work in a DevOps team of eight GEO-ICT specialists, supporting clients such as drinking water utilities, energy network operators, and ProRail.
Develop and improve GIS applications in Smallworld GIS (Magik) and/or Esri, from concept to production.
Advise clients directly on GEO-ICT challenges—your expertise directly influences client decisions.
Proactively identify and address system improvements without needing explicit direction.
Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and technical discussions—and justify your technical choices.
If you have a Java or C# background but no Smallworld experience, we’ll provide a fully paid Geo-ICT Master Class during working hours to get you up to speed.
Your Role in the Team
You’ll join a small, self-managing team—no layers of management slowing down decisions.
Together with colleagues, you’ll plan your own sprints, define the technical direction, and take ownership of the final outcome.
Client contact is standard—you’re not a remote executor but an active, trusted partner.
What You Bring
Minimum 2 years of experience in application development, preferably in a GEO-ICT or infrastructure context.
Knowledge of Java and/or C#, and experience with—or strong affinity for—GE Smallworld GIS or Esri.
A completed WO (research university) degree, preferably in Informatics, Information Science, or a geo-technical field.
Fluent Dutch communication skills, both internally and with clients.
What We Offer
A permanent contract and a competitive salary based on your knowledge and experience.
Full control over your career path, with ample opportunities for personal and professional development.
Work on cutting-edge topics and technologies: data, AI, cloud, Agile delivery, and digital transformation.
Hybrid working: from home, office, or client sites—depending on project and team agreements.
Flexible working hours and part-time options, aligned with role and client requirements.
Opportunity to become a CGI shareholder.
