The Abwasser-Zweckverband Südholstein (AZV Südholstein) is responsible for wastewater collection, transport, and treatment in southwestern Schleswig-Holstein. With nearly 300 employees, it serves approximately 500,000 residents, as well as industry and commerce in the Pinneberg district, parts of neighboring districts, and several northwestern districts of Hamburg. The AZV operates seven wastewater treatment plants of varying sizes and manages over 900 kilometers of sewer networks.
The main site is the large wastewater treatment plant in Hetlingen. Annually, the association treats around 34 million cubic meters of wastewater, undertakes additional tasks in municipal water management, and actively promotes sustainable development—making a vital contribution to water and environmental protection in the region.
At the earliest possible date, we are looking for a
GIS Specialist (m/f/d) with a focus on sewer network hydraulics
at our Hetlingen site in the Planning and Construction department, on a permanent and full-time basis.

Your Profile:
Completed university degree in environmental engineering, urban water resources management, or a related field
Knowledge of hydrodynamic modeling / sewer network simulation (Hystem-Extran)
Experience with sewer databases and geographic information systems (QGIS) is desirable
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Structured, independent work approach with a focus on cost, time, and quality
Strong communication skills, resilience, teamwork orientation, and fluent German (C1 level or equivalent)
Class B driver’s license or willingness to obtain one
Your Responsibilities:
Updating existing hydrodynamic models, including managing and coordinating field measurement campaigns
Initial data capture and digitization, as well as data migration into the KIS database and GIS systems
Supporting external contractors and site supervision during large-scale sewer cleaning and inspection projects
Supporting foreign water (infiltration) projects and advising the construction department on sewer network modeling
Building and co-developing a 3D model of wastewater treatment plants and the sewer network
