About Us
The Abwasser-Zweckverband Südholstein (AZV Südholstein) is responsible for wastewater collection, transport, and treatment in southwestern Schleswig-Holstein. With nearly 300 employees, the association serves approximately 500,000 residents, as well as industry and commerce in the Pinneberg district, parts of neighboring districts, and several northwestern districts of Hamburg. AZV Südholstein operates seven wastewater treatment plants of varying sizes and manages over 900 kilometers of sewer pipelines. Its main site is the large-scale treatment plant in Hetlingen. Annually, the association treats around 34 million cubic meters of wastewater, while also fulfilling additional tasks in municipal water management and promoting sustainable development—making a vital contribution to water and environmental protection in the region.
Position
We are looking for a GIS-Anwender*in (m/f/d) with a focus on sewer network hydraulics at our Hetlingen location in the Planning and Construction department, as of the earliest possible date, on a permanent, full-time basis.
Responsibilities
Updating existing hydrodynamic models, including managing and coordinating field measurement campaigns
Initial data capture and digitization, as well as data migration into the KIS database and GIS systems
Supporting external contractors and site supervision during large-scale sewer cleaning and inspection operations
Supporting foreign water (infiltration) remediation projects and advising the construction department on sewer network modeling
Developing and co-designing a 3D model of wastewater treatment plants and sewer networks
Profile
Completed university degree in environmental engineering, urban water management, or a related field
Knowledge of hydrodynamic modeling and sewer network calculations (Hystem-Extran)
Experience with sewer database systems and GIS (preferably QGIS)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Structured, independent work style with a focus on cost, time, and quality
Strong communication skills, resilience, teamwork ability, and fluent German (C1 level or equivalent)
Valid driver’s license class B or willingness to obtain one
