We are looking for an IT specialist with full technical responsibility for our GIS platform. About the Position
The role encompasses technical management, platform development, integrations, and operations—carried out in close collaboration with the GIS unit and other IT functions within the City Planning Office. You will also cooperate with other departments and the city’s central IT function.
The assignment entails comprehensive responsibility for the platform’s technical functionality, development, and long-term sustainability, though it does not include personnel or budget responsibilities.
While the GIS unit is responsible for operational use and application-level development of the GIS support system, you are responsible for the underlying technical platform. In this role, you ensure the platform remains stable, secure, and fit for purpose—both in the short and long term.
Your Responsibilities
As an IT specialist, you hold full technical responsibility for the GIS platform and its closely related technical components. Your tasks include:
Managing the technical infrastructure around the GIS platform, including data flows, databases, integrations, access rights, and authentication.
Ensuring operation, performance, security, and availability of geospatial platforms through technical maintenance, monitoring, and planning and executing releases.
Implementing, configuring, and further developing technical solutions based on business needs and requirements.
Serving as the technical owner for platform development and coordinating operational, maintenance, and development activities with internal and external stakeholders.
Reducing technical vulnerabilities through documentation, standardized workflows, redundancy, and knowledge transfer.
Participating in incident management, troubleshooting, change management, testing, and quality assurance.
Collaborating with system administrators, IT coordinators, information architects, and GIS engineers to ensure sustainable solutions and well-functioning information flows.
The role involves close collaboration with the GIS unit, where you act as the technical specialist and platform owner. You may also contribute technical expertise to other business systems within the City Planning Office as needed.
Qualifications
Required
Higher education degree of at least 180 ECTS credits in IT, systems science, or data engineering, combined with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, another education combined with at least 4 years of relevant professional experience.
Strong experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and other Esri products from a technical and infrastructure perspective.
Solid experience in technical system management, application operations, or platform management.
Good knowledge of servers, networking, authentication, integrations, and operational environments.
Practical experience with SQL and working with relational databases.
Experience working systematically with incidents, changes, testing, and documentation.
Proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
Merit-worthy
Experience with FME or other ETL platforms.
Experience with automation, scripting, and technical development.
Experience with user, license, and permission administration in ArcGIS environments.
Experience with system management according to PM3 or a similar management model.
Experience with Sokigos products, such as Nova Bygg and ByggR.
Experience with vendor management and technical collaboration.
Experience from municipal or other public sector operations.
