About the Role
The Swedish Armed Forces is expanding its capabilities in Geospatial Information Services (GIS) and seeks a senior professional to strengthen its geospatial infrastructure and service delivery across ICT platforms. As the Materielsystemledare (MSL) — effectively the Product and Design Owner — you will hold full technical responsibility for GIS-related systems, from early requirements definition through deployment, operation, and maintenance.
You will lead and manage operational and maintenance teams, drive long-term design and operational planning, and ensure quality, performance, and financial accountability. You will also contribute to evolving work methods and processes in alignment with evolving technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Hold product and design ownership for GIS-related technical solutions and platforms
Lead and manage operational and maintenance personnel
Develop and oversee short- and long-term operational and maintenance plans
Monitor business performance, quality, and financial outcomes
Drive continuous improvement of workflows and methodologies in response to technological advancements
Requirements:
Civil Engineer degree or equivalent relevant post-secondary technical education
Minimum 5 years of experience in product and/or architecture roles
Strong knowledge of Systems Engineering, system development, procurement, PLM, project management, and operations & maintenance
Excellent Swedish and English communication skills (written and verbal)
Swedish citizenship
Valid Swedish Class B driver’s license
Meritorious Qualifications:
Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
High competence in IT infrastructure and system integration
Knowledge of information security requirements and processes
Experience with public procurement (LOU)
Prior experience from the Swedish Armed Forces or other government agencies
Certification or experience with agile methodologies (e.g., SAFe)

About the Recruiting Unit:
The Swedish Armed Forces’ Telecommunications and Information Systems Unit (FMTIS) ensures 24/7/365 command and communication capabilities for military operations—domestically and internationally. With nearly 2,000 employees across over 32 locations, FMTIS is responsible for the technical command system supporting land, sea, and air operations.
Security & Placement:
This position requires placement in a security classification. Swedish citizenship is normally required, and a security check (including register checks) will be conducted prior to employment in accordance with Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment includes a duty to be deployed in wartime and possibly to serve abroad, depending on the role.
