About the Position
The Swedish Armed Forces is growing rapidly and seeks to strengthen its competence in Geospatial Information Services (GIS), a field currently in a phase of significant development. As part of the broader ICT transformation, the Armed Forces is building a geospatial infrastructure and an advanced organizational framework to develop and maintain geospatial information services across and between its ICT platforms.
As the GIS IT Specialist, you will hold full technical responsibility for the design, platforms, and system solutions within the GIS domain. You will formally hold product and design ownership for the technical solution and associated systems. Within the Armed Forces, this role is designated as Material System Manager (MSL).
The MSL supports early-phase requirement definition to ensure the system is maintainable and enables the Armed Forces to assume technical design responsibility upon system handover.
Your Responsibilities Include:
Product and design ownership for technical solutions and platforms
Leading and managing operations and maintenance personnel
Responsible for design control, as well as operational and maintenance planning—both short- and long-term
Monitoring business performance, quality, and financial outcomes
Contributing to the further development of work methods and processes in alignment with technological evolution
Requirements
Qualifications:
Master of Science (Civilingenjör) or equivalent relevant post-secondary technical education
Minimum 5 years of experience in product and/or architecture roles
Solid knowledge of Systems Engineering, system development, procurement, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), project management, and operations & maintenance
Strong proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
Swedish citizenship
Valid Swedish Class B driver’s license
Meritorious:
Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
High competence in IT infrastructure and system integration
Knowledge of information security requirements and related processes
Experience with public procurement (LOU)
Prior experience from the Swedish Armed Forces or other government agencies
Certification or experience with agile methodologies (e.g., SAFe)
