About the Role
What will you do?
Water, space, and data are inseparably linked. As a GIS Analyst / Application Administrator at Waterschap Scheldestromen, you ensure that geographic information is reliable, accessible, and optimally usable across our organization. With your expertise, you support colleagues on key issues related to water safety, water management, and the living environment in Zeeland. You manage and develop our GIS applications, translate user requirements into smart solutions, and contribute to future-proof information provision—making a visible contribution every day to a safe, livable, and attractive Zeeland.
You analyze and evaluate user requirements regarding GIS software, spatial datasets, and system functionalities.
You perform complex GIS analyses and translate them into usable spatial information, maps, and GIS products.
You manage, maintain, and improve GIS applications, including application documentation, workflows, and functional specifications.
You identify malfunctions, deviations, and user requests; test program modifications; and coordinate with suppliers where necessary.
You support users, answer questions, provide training, and transfer knowledge to colleagues working with GIS.
You advise on data definitions, data structures, and the integration of GIS with other data and information systems.
You stay up to date on developments in the GIS field and contribute ideas on new applications, GEO-ICT solutions, and process improvements.
You manage and configure the ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise environments.
What do you get in return?
Flexible working hours: early bird or late starter—you decide. You can work both remotely and from the office.
A 36-hour workweek (full-time).
A one-year contract with the prospect of a permanent position.
Salary ranges from €4,313 to a maximum of €5,848 gross per month, depending on experience.
In addition to your salary, you receive an Individual Choice Budget (IKB) of 21% of your gross salary, which you can spend on extra vacation days or have paid out.
You also receive a Personal Basic Budget (PBB) of €6,000 every five years, which you can invest in vitality and career development.
Excellent secondary employment conditions, including a good pension scheme and a travel expense allowance of €0.25 per kilometer.
At least 21 vacation days per year.
Our office is located next to Middelburg railway station and is easily accessible by public transport. If you have work appointments elsewhere, company cars are always available.
Who are you?
You hold at least a completed HBO (higher professional education) degree, preferably in Geo-ICT, Geo Media & Design, Geo-informatics, Applied Geo-Information Science & Remote Sensing, or a comparable program.
You have general theoretical and practical knowledge of GIS techniques, methods, and spatial data.
You have demonstrable experience with ESRI GIS products and preferably experience with functional application management.
You can analyze user requirements and translate them into concrete solutions within technical and financial constraints.
You are skilled in advising, presenting, and transferring knowledge to users.
You are analytical, communication-skilled, customer-oriented, proactive, and solution-driven.

You will join the Team Data Management and Information Provision within the Operations Department—a team that ensures information from our core processes remains current, reliable, and highly usable. You bring your GIS expertise to the team and help colleagues—both in the field and in the office—work smarter and more efficiently.
Together, you ensure our GIS modules align well with real-world needs and contribute to clear spatial information for the entire organization.
