At the District of Steinburg, the position of GIS Coordinator (m/f/d) (EG 11 TVöD-VKA) is to be filled at the earliest possible date in the Department for District Development, Energy, and Climate Protection, within the Division for Regional Development. The position is not further divisible.
About Us:
The Department for Regional Development, Energy, and Climate Protection aims to initiate and implement sustainable development processes based on the region’s own capabilities and strengths. It advises and supports municipalities and administrative offices within the district in their land-use planning procedures, as well as other local planning and urban development concepts. To address many spatially oriented questions, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are employed extensively.
Coordinating the GIS—connected across municipal and city administrations—is a key component of workflows both within the department and across the entire district administration.
Your Responsibilities:
Conceptualizing, organizing, coordinating, and further developing GIS usage across the district administration
Managing and supporting GIS applications, including WebGIS, and advising district departments on the collection and preparation of digital geospatial data
Administering, maintaining, and further developing the geospatial data inventory, ensuring data availability
Supporting and advising district departments in digital geospatial data collection and processing
Integrating and advising subordinate municipal and administrative offices into a unified geospatial data infrastructure
Aligning geospatial infrastructures with the state government and the Hamburg Metropolitan Region, and coordinating with state and municipal authorities and planning offices
Supporting GIS specialists in the Department for Environmental Protection
Your Profile:
Required qualifications:
Successfully completed university or university of applied sciences degree (e.g., diploma, bachelor’s) in environmental, spatial, or geosciences—such as Geography, Geoinformatics, Urban and Regional Planning, Cartography, or Surveying/Geomatics
Solid knowledge of Geographic Information Systems
German language proficiency at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
Preferred qualifications:
Several years of professional experience in GIS/WebGIS, along with additional GIS-specific qualifications
Strong general IT skills and knowledge of database management
Interdisciplinary and structured thinking and working methods
Conceptual understanding, as well as strategic, goal- and results-oriented action
Initiative, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility
Conflict management and communication skills, as well as flexibility
