About the Role
When every second counts during an emergency, your GIS expertise ensures firefighters have up-to-date, clear accessibility maps with vital data on buildings, risks, and facilities. You translate technical and regulatory information into actionable operational intelligence—directly supporting field teams via the Mobile Operational Information System (MOI).
Key Responsibilities
Create, update, and maintain digital accessibility maps using QGIS.
Collect and analyze critical data on high-risk or special-use facilities (e.g., industrial sites, tunnels, locations with hazardous substances, hospitals, nursing homes).
Extract and verify information from building plans, blueprints, permits, and on-site inspections.
Visually represent operational data using symbols, colors, and annotations for clarity in emergency contexts.
Collaborate closely with colleagues from Risk & Crisis Management and operational response teams to ensure data accuracy and relevance.
Proactively seek missing information and coordinate with internal departments to fill data gaps.
Who You Are
Strong analytical and organizational skills—able to distill key operational insights from large volumes of technical data.
Self-motivated, proactive, and assertive in obtaining necessary information.
Passionate about public safety and eager to support the fire service mission.
Comfortable working independently while maintaining strong teamwork and communication.
Committed to continuous learning and adapting to evolving technologies (e.g., AI tools).
Requirements
MBO/HBO work and thinking level.
Affinity with the fire service or prior knowledge of fire service operations (desirable).
Good digital skills and experience with MS Office.
Interest or experience in information management, GIS, or cartography.
Intrinsic motivation to develop professionally.
Note: QGIS experience is advantageous but not required—we provide full training on internal systems and workflows.
