Your Role
We are looking for a Senior GIS Expert (m/f/d) at our Würzburg location. The Jacobs GmbH Germany GIS team is currently in setup phase and seeks committed professionals to prepare for current and future projects, forming a solid, client-focused foundation for the German market alongside other Jacobs business units.
Across Europe, over 140 GIS professionals continuously exchange knowledge and experience, benefiting all regional teams.
In Germany, we work on complex infrastructure projects—including the strategic energy initiative "SuedLink"—developing and delivering advanced enterprise GIS solutions for clients in the energy infrastructure sector and beyond. Working closely with internal departments, partner companies, and clients, you will help shape GIS workflows, interfaces, data standards, and web- and mobile-based GIS applications.

Your Profile:
Completed university degree in geoinformatics, geography, surveying, or a related field, along with several years of professional experience in complex GIS projects with direct client contact.
Strong expertise in the ESRI ecosystem (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal, ArcGIS Online) and experience building and operating geospatial infrastructures.
In-depth GIS data management skills: handling diverse geospatial data types, ETL processes (e.g., using FME), data modeling, spatial analysis, and quality assurance.
Experience developing and operating web GIS solutions within the ESRI environment (ArcGIS Enterprise/Online, REST services, security models); knowledge of VertiGIS technologies is advantageous.
Solid knowledge of relational and spatial databases (MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL/PostGIS).
IT-related GIS competence: hands-on experience with web/mobile deployments and CI/CD pipelines, plus foundational understanding of system architecture, networking, monitoring, and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure).
Experience in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) sector and familiarity with BIM methodologies and relevant standards (e.g., ISO 19650) is a plus.
Strong customer orientation, structured work approach, and excellent communication skills.
Very good German and good English language skills.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required by project and business needs.
